One of the biggest reasons why people move abroad is because they want more freedom. They want to travel more, work less, and spend more time with family and friends. In other words, they want to live life to its fullest.
If for your entire life, you never left a 5 mile radius of the place you were born, your experiences would be extremely limited and would contribute to having a limited understanding of oneself and how best to operate in the world.
It is also useful to experience firsthand that other peoples may operate differently, but their behavior is equally viable, just different. This allows you to explore other modalities of existence without judgment because what may not be culturally appropriate in your immediate community may pose no issue in other places.
The Cost of Living Is Lower Than You Think

Second, you need to make certain that you will be able to find employment when you arrive. Third, you need to think about how much money you will save by not having to pay taxes. Fourth, you need to figure out whether you will miss American culture. Finally, you need to decide whether you want to live in an English speaking country or one where you speak the local language.
